AI Readiness Check, Interim COO, CFO as a Service and operational transformation for SMEs, scale-ups and PE portfolios across the DACH region.
Your COO or CFO leaves, and the search takes 6–9 months. The business will not wait.
Sales delivers, but the organisation cannot keep up. Quality and margins start to slip.
Reporting, processes and governance must become buyer-ready in months, not years.
Cut costs, secure liquidity, keep the team. Decisions someone has to own.
The owner wants to hand over, but the company still depends on one person.
The budget is there, the direction is not. Readiness first, then investment. Otherwise it gets expensive.
Six dimensions, five maturity levels, one score. The ORS measures what your company can carry operationally before you invest in growth, an exit or AI. Only what can be evidenced counts: claims without proof score lower than proven practice.
The weakest dimension caps the whole. That is why every diagnosis ends with the constraint dimension, a plain-language verdict and a First Move for 90 days, which I will execute myself on request.
The ORS is modular: if you do not want the full scope assessed, start with the AI Readiness Check - the same six dimensions, focused through the AI lens, in 2–3 weeks. Credited at 100 percent towards the full check.
«The potential sits in the market, the constraint in your own operations. Stabilise it within 90 days, and the organisation carries the growth - without losing quality. That is the First Move.»
Plain-language verdict · anonymised exampleA structured leadership conversation. Outcome: indicative score, radar and your constraint dimension. Not a sales pitch, but a working session.
A full evidence-based assessment: interviews across three levels, system data, process walkthroughs. Verified score, plain-language verdict, 90-day First Move.
I execute the First Move myself, as Interim COO, CFO or CTO. With accountability, not slide decks.
Quarterly re-assessment and sparring after the mandate. Your score history shows in black and white whether the impact lasts.
Each phase stands on its own. If you stop after the snapshot, you still walk away with a result. And if there is nothing to fix, I will say so just as plainly.
All mandates anonymised · details and references verifiable in conversation
«Thorsten rebuilt our entire operational infrastructure and carried the PE exit to a 4x return operationally. Not a consultant. A leader.»

As an Interim COO and CFO as a Service, I support owners, managing directors and investors in steering their companies through growth, transition and exit. My ambition is to take on responsibility where it is missing, so you can focus on what matters most: your core business.
Behind me are more than 20 years of operational leadership across DACH and North America: monthly closes, ERP rollouts, greenfield site builds, a PE exit carried operationally. Most recently four years as Head of Finance & Operations of a 23-entity holding; before that, building and scaling operations with up to 2,000 employees. That is why the Operations Readiness Score measures no theory, but what I was measured against myself.
If I am not the right person, I will tell you in the first conversation and recommend someone who is.
Consultancies recommend; I take ownership. In a mandate I carry P&L responsibility, make decisions and answer for the results. The diagnosis is not a slide deck but the blueprint for execution, which I will take on myself if you wish.
The snapshot is based on your self-assessment. The diagnosis verifies it against reality: interviews across three levels, system data, process walkthroughs. The difference is the same as between anamnesis and findings.
Snapshot within a week, diagnosis usually starting within two weeks, mandates by arrangement. Considerably faster than any executive search.
Then that is exactly what the verdict will say, and you hold a robust confirmation for your bank, board or buyer. I do not sell problems that do not exist.
30 minutes, free, no strings attached. You describe the situation; I tell you whether and how I can help.
A 60–90 minute structured leadership conversation. Outcome: score, radar, constraint dimension.
Diagnosis, mandate or neither. You decide based on a result, not a promise.
